After
the death of a family patriarch, an insurance company organizes an expedition
to the Congo to find a lost heiress, rumored to be living in the jungle
as a white goddess named Gungala. Tension mounts as the explorers enter
the region controlled by the deadly Kinsa cannibal tribe.
One
of the very first films directed by legendary Ruggero Deodato (this
time under the pseudonym Roger Rockefeller), produced a decade before
his classic CANNIBAL
HOLOCAUST. Officially, this one was released as a sequel to
GUNGALA
VIRGIN OF THE JUNGLE, but essentially it's the same story but
executed differently. It also contains more action and more nudity.
Here
is a newly restored, beautiful print of this rare movie, in English
language. Ruggero would follow this project with ZENEBEL
and LIVE
LIKE A COP, DIE LIKE A MAN. Mr Deodato died from pneumonia with
Covid 19 complications in December 2022 at age 83. His final film was
BALLAD
IN BLOOD (2016).
