(067) IT'S MURDER (1978) Sam Raimi's 1st film! w/Scott Spiegel
8673DVD
director: Sam Raimi
starring: Scott Spiegel · Sam Raimi · Richard Smith ·
Cheryl Guttridge · Ted Raimi · Bruce Campbell
Originally
shot on 8mm and stored under 'casual' conditions the print has deteriorated
over the years. Today, it is considered a lost film. While visual quality
is obviously less than optimum, it remains best possible under existing
conditions. Some segments are surprisingly good, while others not so
much [please note the actual screen shots on this
page].
Here
is a "zany boffo comedy" about an eccentric family
that experiences inheritance complications after their rich uncle is
murdered and the inept detective who investigates the case. If you think
an unusually long sofa is funny, or if you roar with laughter over antics
of the Three Stooges, you will love this movie. But obviously
there is a limited audience. However, this IS
a virtually unknown movie by Sam Raimi and, for that reason alone, it's
must-see for genre fans. The film also features a surprisingly fun homage
to the cemetery scene from NIGHT
OF THE LIVING DEAD.
This
'Lost Film Release' also features Sam Raimi/Bruce Campbell
selected short films
CLEVELAND SMITH: BOUNTY HUNTER (1982) [see below],
TORO TORO TORO (1981) and BLIND WAITER
(1980).
