This Japanese television series is loosely based on the manga by the same name [which, truth-be-told, was inspired by JUON (the Grudge)]. The program originally aired Saturday nights at Midnight on NTV [Nippon Television Network], 2006/07. It was a hit with fans and critics due to the unexpected high caliber of production.

Somewhere in the vast realm of the Internet, there is a website called "Jigok Ysushin" (Hell Portal). When grudges ae posted at the stroke of midnight, Hell Girl will appear and drag the named bullies into the Inferno for everlasting torture. Schoolgirl Ai Emma believes this website is merely an urban legend. But after she is continuously bullied by classmates and looses her college acceptance scholarship, she discovers the site is real and she can finally take revenge. However there is a devastating catch....

The series stars popular young actress Sayri Iwata [best know to genre fans for Koji Shiaishi TEKE TEKE] and the legendary Aya Sugimoto [FLOWER AND SNAKE]. It is directed by television hit-maker Makoto Naganuma.
