BEAST, comes this rare bizarre SciFi tale. All television sets
in the town of Clearview suddenly go on the fritz. Every channel starts
exclusively broadcasting tranquillizing wave patterns that turn children
(and old people) into hypnotized, violent junkies once the stimulus
is removed. Steve Jameson from the Ministry of Communication (played
by American Richard Conte, best known as Barzini in the Godfather
series) comes to investigate when the zombified hordes become violent.
Argentina's
first cult director was Emilio Vieyra, Internationally known known for
CURIOUS
DR HUMPP [and other titles listed above]. Mr Vieyra was notoriously
ahead of his time, and - as such - became a target for government censorship.
In the mid 1970s, Emilio decided to stop butting heads with authorities
and take a mainstream approach to entertainment. But after a decade
of safe movies like "Así Es Buenos Aires"
[This is Buenos Aires], he returned to his exploitation roots with CORRECCIONAL
DE MUJERES
[Prison for Women], the vigilante thriller VENGEANCE
OBSESSION
[Obsesion de Venganza] and the sleazy Giallo IT
HAPPENED AT THE BOARDING SCHOOL. Mr Vieyra died at age 85 in
2010.
