Circa
late 19th century. A young Filipino fighter rises to challenge the corrupt
Spanish imperialists after his parents are murdered by soldiers. He
trains under a blind master (played by Guy Madison) using iron Arnis
sticks in a special brand of martial arts to prepare for a fight with
a Japanese Samurai warrior hired by the governor.
Roland
Dantes began bodybuilding at 18 years old, winning the Mr. Philippines
and Mr. Universe titles multiple times in his career (1969, 1973,
1974, 1976 and 1980). He was a grandmaster in the Filipino martial arts
"Arnis" and "Escrima," as often demonstrated
in his 30+ films during the '70 and '80s. Roland retired from motion
pictures in 1991 and began teaching his skills in the Philippines, Australia
and Japan. Mr Dantes died from heart failure at age 59 in March 2009.
