Chinese title YOULING DAILI REN [An Agent Named Phantom]
director:
Xue Shao
starring: Liu Xiaoqiao · Zhang Zong-min · Su Delun · Du Wen-Jie
A
Chinese Grindhouse actioner starring Liu Xiaoqiao (looking a lot like
a young Maggie Q) as secret agent Jing-shang aka Phantom. As the
film opens she is struggling with amnesia. She knows nothing about her
life prior to the recent six months. She's married to Kevin, an advertising
executive in Tokyo. He calls her Shan-shan and they live happily together.
That is, except Shanshan continuously has nightmares about death and trauma.
Recently, she has become the popular icon of a TV commercial campaign
and - by chance - one of her advertisements is seen by Huo Shan, a traitor
from her old spy team. He believes she has a special key (to a Japanese
treasure trove hidden in China during WW2) in her possession and he intends
to get it. As other agents attempt to capture and/or kill Shanshan, her
memory starts to return and she plans a counterattack.
This
is the debut feature for former costume designer Liu Xiaoqiao.
